Discover a world-class collection of aircraft and hear the fascinating stories of the people who built and flew them at one of Scotland's top attractions. Learn about the history of aviation from the First World War to the present day and immerse yourself in interactive galleries, supersonic experiences and our historic hangars and airfield. Get on board Scotland's Concorde to discover what transatlantic flight was like for its passengers and crew and learn more about its supersonic legacy. Then round off your day with a visit to our shop and cafe or bring your own picnic to enjoy in our outdoor picnic area.
Great place to visit with the kids and plenty to keep the parents entertained too. Kids loved the interactive section of the museum and we spent a good hour in there alone. Some very nice exhibits and seeing Concord so close up will never cease to be spectacular. Cafe was good and obstacle course burnt off a bit of energy. It's not really aimed at little kid's though 10+ I would say. Fantastic place to visit though we were there all day to see everything.
It was a fantastic place to visit! We thoroughly enjoyed looking around the planes and learning new things about aviation. The cafe was wonderful and they cater for gluten allergies! Great for children to as they have an area with flight stimulation and various games to do we flight!
A very good entertaining, educational and fascinating day out. The whole facility is very accessible apart from, obviously being unable to get a wheelchair onto the planes which are open to those who are able to board them. Even on a day where the weather isn't playing ball most of the exhibits are indoors but a wee run between hangars is all that's needed. There is a very good cafe which is very reasonably priced. My only complaint is that too many of the interactive exhibits were out of order but otherwise I'd highly recommend you plan a visit here during the school holidays.
A fantastic aircraft museum. Undoubtedly the best one in Scotland. The site (a former WW2 training airfield), contains four hangars of aircraft, with each hangar generally dedicated to various themes (civil aviation, cold war, WW2 and conservation hangar). I loved that the majority of aircraft were British, but plenty of other nations were also represented. Some of the aircraft close for lunch (the Comet and BAC), so consider this during your walk through of the area. There's several smaller buildings such as the interactive educational building and an airship museum. The highlight of course is the purpose built Concorde hangar. The legendary jet is well preserved and beautifully presented. The museum is worth every penny. I'd highly recommend.
My children loved the place as did the adults.. the concorde was awesome and the military hanger with all the planes on display. The flight interactive centre kept the children entertained for hours. The commercial hanger was just a well curated. ...an absolutely perfect day for the family. Will go back again and again...
A real treat, plan to spend at least a couple of hours if you can. Lovely place for a picnic if weather cooperates. While there are buildings with exhibits, planes, etc, this is more like a "public grounds" with some really neat stuff to view traversing from building to building. Concorde in particular does not disappoint, of course the plane itself but also the surrounding exhibits. Very well done!
