I had a great time at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The museum is full of interesting exhibits, from ancient artifacts to modern technology. The displays are well-organized, and there is something for everyone to enjoy. I loved the interactive exhibits and learning about Scotland's history and culture. The rooftop terrace offers amazing views of the city. The museum is free to enter, making it a perfect place to visit. I recommend it for a fun and educational day out.
MUST GO! I will return again and again. I am not a huge museum person, but the stuff they have is so amazing! And it doesn't feel like the British Museum or some large international museum - although their collections rival many collections across the world. This is a great option for a rainy day in Edinburgh. You will not be disappointed. Also, great gift shops. If you have not seen the Lewis Chessmen, do yourself a favor and stop by to see the pieces they have in their possession. Nice and accommodating staff as well. I think it offered free admission. Although I strongly suggest contributing a donation. This place is kid-friendly!!!!
Absolutely loved this museum during our stay in Edinburgh. Plenty plenty to see, so much history to soak up. Amazing artifacts, my daughter loved the interactive exhibits and the science and technology areas. Free entry. A must visit.
Our first visit yesterday and what an amazing experience this was. There are so many different areas crammed with fascinating facts to suit every child or adults interests. The racing cars were a big hit for our son - I particularly loved the animals. The sea creatures and mammals hanging from the ceiling is wonderful. I went into this area 3 times because I didn't want to miss anything - it is fascinating. There are many hands on things for everyone to do, from programming a robot to A driving simulator in an F1 car. Learning about forces was one of my sons favourites and he went back this multiple times. We cannot believe that this is free to visit - definitely an amazing opportunity and one to go to if you are in Edinburgh. We will definitely go back again - especially when our son's topics change throughout school so he can go and immerse himself in the areas that I know he will learn so much from. We didn't have to pre book, we paid PS1 donation for a map which I'm sure people are more than happy to pay, I know we were. The cafe was nice, scones and pastries to choose from, along with cakes, hot and cold drinks, pre packed sandwiches and ice cream. The gift shop was reasonably priced too in my opinion. We spent around 2 and a half hours here but didn't visit every area as we had a train to catch so only went to the areas my son chose. It's inside a beautiful building and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Visited a few weeks ago, although have visited many times before. Never a disappointment and always something new to see. Stopped for scones and hot chocolates at the Balcony Cafe; thoroughly delicious. Roof top views are fantastic also. Great day out as always.
Great experience! I love the interactive elements and could easily do this in an morning/afternoon. It's nice that the entry is free, as you can do short or long visits, or just go for the cafe and architecture. If you are not a fan of kids running around, definitely come at off-peak times.
