Landmark property with behind-the-scenes views of ongoing restoration, walled garden and play field.
Very impressive mansion, lots of history to discover as you go around. There's not loads of rooms so it didn't take long to go around. There is a nice walled garden but no formal gardens. We did the 'behind the scenes' tour of private apartments which was very interesting and highly recommended. Nice shop and cafe.
Attingham Park, an 18th century mansion, is one of, if not the most popular National Trust sites. So it's just as well it has a huge carpark. Considering the amount of cars in it, the place itself wasn't too overcrowded, maybe because it has huge grounds and is well spread out and plenty of visitors take a walk to maybe the deer park for one example. There wasn't a big queue in either cafe and plenty of tables to be able to find a space. The house itself is beautifully preserved and an interesting insight into life upstairs and downstairs. There are free tours behind the scenes, but didn't realize that at the time. The walled garden is a nice short stroll if you don't want too long a walk and is worth it. The staff were ever so helpful, nice and knowledgeable, which they are at every N.T. place. Definitely recommend a visit if you get the chance.
Excellent National Trust property. The volunteers were fantastic and the level of information in each room was superb. The grounds are extensive for long walks and offer a calm and tranquil space to relax. The ice cream was also fantastic! Huge book shop and plant shop. Fabulous walled garden with beautiful plants and vegetables to explore. There was also an enormous range of activities for kids. Two separate cafes (one near the entrance and one near the house) offer a great selection of drinks and food. Brilliant place to bring a dog too.
Terrific day out at this beautiful property. The wider grounds and the walled garden are worth visiting but the house is fascinating. I really enjoyed seeing the servants quarters, which were just as interesting in their own way as the 'posh' part of the house. I will definitely visit again.
Attingham Park is fabulous and we go often. It has much to offer including the House, cafe WC, lots of parking however, it also has the most superb grounds ie Woodland and Deer Park walks which are amazing, great for all the family and pets to enjoy.
Large grounds containing: Grand mansion which has a lot of history to go with artefacts. Admire the lifestyle of the olden day rich. Walled garden with plenty of flowers and vegetables. Deer park (though didn't see any!) Decent cafe and compulsory shop. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
