Restored, unfurnished Tudor mansion set in colourful gardens, with a walled orchard and restaurant.
Beautiful place to visit. The gardens are lovely. The main house wasn't open when we went but Strode House was. Good little cafe selling sandwiches and cakes etc. There's also some craft shops as well as a NT shop and second hand book shop but remember to bring cash for that!
Lovely place, we had a great time there. It's a very interesting history behind it. Beautiful gardens, they have a kitchen garden and they're potatoes, courgette and apples you can have & give donations towards them, they're delicious we had it for our dinner. We really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.
Lovely National Trust location. Plenty of parking space. Cafe/restaurant, pottery, nursery and other shops. Fantastic house and ground to explore. Great photo location. We visited on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy.
Called in on the way to our holiday cottage as we knew it would be a good way to break the journey up. We parked up and headed for the cafe for a nice cup of tea and of course a slice of cake lol..we had coffee and walnut and Victoria sponge which I can tell you was delicious..we then went to the few shops that were there for a quick browse.. We then strolled around the grounds and took in the stunning views of the house and gardens that surrounded it.. Some lovely pictures to be snapped up by the pond by budding photographers lol.. We were only able to view the bottom floor of the one property as there are restoration projects going on at the moment, but it didn't stop us from enjoying our visit. There seemed to be plenty of areas by the cafe for picnics and just relaxing..would deffo reccomend if passing..as always Thankyou to the wonderful staff who make our visits the best they could be..all for our benefit..thanks.
Super gardens and grounds, looked after by, what seemed like dozens of gardeners, all of whom were happy to talk. It's a shame the main house isn't open. It's a stunning building, although part of one wing is accessible and had some displays in. Also on site are some artisan shops which are interesting to walk around.
At the time of visiting, the houses were shut due to renovations, however we enjoyed a walk around the gardens. Artisan shops to browse and the cakes in the cafe were delicious.
