National Trust site inspired by the East, with a dahlia walk and plants from round the world.
Never been before, what a lovely surprise!! Really nice gardens with little surprises like tunnels and lakes, waterfalls etc ,China Garden was lovely and the fish in the lakes were huge!! A lovely sunny day helped, but all in all, a very pleasant way to wile away o couple of hours, the plants and ornaments on sale were super value, so a few bob was spent there, will visit again for sure, if you are about, give it a try..
What an amazing garden to walk around. So many different sections and hidden pathways. Every time you think you've got to a dead end, a careful look will uncover a hidden pathway. It could be in a dark cave or building or just hidden behind a bush. Whoever designed this garden obviously had a brilliant and fun personality. I can't recommend a trip to here more highly.
Another of my favourite NT places. The "garden rooms" are so quirky and enjoyable to explore, and the layout means that even when it's busy it doesn't feel crowded. Highlights have to be the dahlia walk and the Himalayan Glen. And where else in Staffordshire would you overhear someone asking a guide, "Can you tell me how to get to China, please?"
Really wish I hadn't left it so long to visit this place, it's absolutely amazing. Lots of little nooks and hideaways in the gardens. Worth noting that if you haven't been before pay very careful attention to the map. Some of the pathways marked on it are not easily spotted as you walk around, especially if you want to go to the Chinese bridge.
It's a very beautiful garden with some particular highlights . The chinese pavilion and bridges look great for photos. The lime tree walk is peaceful and impressive . The dahlia garden is a must from August onwards. Lovely places to have your scones and cakes which are delicious. Difficult to walk on some paths if you are less than mobile .
Really pretty place. The gardens were amazing. Family friendly, but not if you don't cope well with steps or walking. Sadly the only negative were a few of the staff. We had a few pushy questions and felt a little uncomfortable at one point. But the staff in the cafe were super helpful and great.
