80-acre garden containing plants collected more than a century ago on global expeditions.
Lovely afternoon out here we're amazed by the size of the gardens. Good size cafe, plenty of choice, and another at the bottom of the gardens for light refreshments and ice cream Good information boards dotted around family history, etc. At the end of the gardens tour, there is a good-sized garden centre. We spent 3/4 hr visit. Good grounds for children to play and run free
Simply stunning Gardens & Grounds to visit for people of all ages & also dog friendly (on Short Leads ONLY) With a variety of paths/walks on offer for people of all abilities this offers something for everyone and with ample seating around the Gardens to Stop, Relax & Take it all in! I'd say an average stay of 3-4hrs is definitely worth the entrance fee especially if you are stopping at one of the cafes to eat..... This takes me onto the only negative which is the prices at the cafe which are absolutely astronomical especially for families with children etc Ice Creams from PS3.50+ Pasties PS5+ Cans PS2.30 Water PS3.30 Chocolate Bars PS1.30 Cookie PS3 My advice would be to bring a picnic and eat it somewhere in the grounds and save yourself a small fortune!
What an absolutely stunning place! This was one of the most beautiful gardens. We spent hours here, also having a lovely picnic. Plenty of places to have a picnic and benches. Lots of places to walk to see all the different areas of the gardens takes a few hours but it's really worth it. I would love to visit again.
Lovely walk around the gardens. Some easier paths for people with prams or mobility difficulties, some more adventurous paths. Beautiful plants, very old trees, something new around every bend! Lily pond, water, ducks, statues, a stately house (not open to the public), so much to see!! Lovely tea room (one of 3), very reasonably priced. We had a cream tea, very nice You can spend a full day there easily. Plants for sale and there's a craft centre too. Plenty of parking. Worth a visit
Blue badge parking on entry to the car park, on the left, near the cafe and also as you follow the car park around to the right, it is a bit more elevated on that side so it's advisable to get there early for parking if you have mobility issues. They also have a drop-off/ pickup area outside the cafe, which is useful! Free wheelchairs to use on a first come bases. Staff are friendly and helpful! The accessible route is a picturesque walk around. Lots of hard work has gone into the landscape, and it's paid off! We did go on a route that advised a no wheelchair walk, but we were with my daughter and family, who are regular visitors to Bodnant... we have off-road wheels on the wheelchair and when a bit more strength was needed my son in law has a few extra muscles to spare so between both their strength the walk was accessible for us and we were so pleased to go down there as we would have missed how beautiful it is. There is a small snack/drink hut near a stone bridge and small waterfall. The flora and trees around just made this a peaceful haven with the birds singing and the water flowing. My 4 year old granddaughter loves this place. She thinks it's her secret garden and is just happy to listen to the wind through the trees and gently run her hands across the flowers and leaves! We spent the day here, very easy to do, the grounds are extensive, and there is plenty to return for to explore. There are benches and picnic benches dotted about. We did stop at the cafe for a coffee and food at the end of our walk, reasonable prices, it's what you would expect from the park cafes... sandwiches, homemade scones, and other bakes... some vegan. Hot food is available as well, baked potato with a variety of fillings, nachos, potato wedges, etc. Hot and cold drinks. Children's snack boxes and hot food. Toilets are a separate building. There are 2 accessible toilets, one near the cafe and the other up where the ladies/men's unit is. Dogs are welcome on leads on certain days, I think Thursday to Sunday at the moment, but it's best to check on their site for more details.
What a beautiful place. The amount of variety in flora is crazy. I didn't expect the garden to be so large and vast. Alongside the flora, the classic architecture is also awe inspiring. I particularly loved "The Pin Mill". The gardens offer short and longer paths for those more adventurous types.
