Burton Bradstock is one of the main gateways to the Jurassic Coast and the South West Coast Path. The estate is easy to access and offers spectacular cliff-top views along the many varied and picturesque coastal walks. Hive Beach is a popular family destination, made up of shingle, surrounded by spectacular sandstone cliffs. It forms part of the larger Chesil Beach; a striking section of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and the largest shingle ridge in the world. Nearby, Burton Cliff offers one of the finest examples of the distinctive, alternate hard and soft layered geology of this Bridport Sands area, which make it appear to glow bright gold in the sunlight.
Visited in May 2024 on sunny day and had great time. Beach is clean, child friendly and we didn't have any problems with parking (which may vary in summer). National trust card holders park for free, other charges in pictures. Toilets and restaurant available (although they stopped serving food very early believe it was around 3:30pm so if you're planning to eat there check the times). Lovely coastal walk from there with spectacular views.
Great beach with amazing facilities, cafe, snacks, toilets, parking (free to national trust members). Lovely walks to choose from. We decided to walk to West Bay but sadly, due to unstable and dangerous cliffs the South West coast path has been redirected through the golf course so we missed the cliff walk.
Great dog friendly beach if you head down to the east past the house! Free parking for national trust members or PS10 for the day otherwise. Really easy access to the beach past a small take away cafe and some toilets
We had a stop off here on the way to Weymouth, Lovely beach, easy parking, good facilities, nice coastal walks.
Lots of parking available (2 overflow fields) right on the sea front. Toilets available and what looked to be a busy restaurant (I didn't go in).
A lovely fine-shingle beach stretching some distance both sides and directly accessible from the car park - PS6/day. There are reasonably well-maintained toilets by the cafe/restaurant and a plentiful array of benches dotted around for casual use. Dogs allowed on the beach. Coastal walks above the cliffs in both directions. Beautiful scenery and not tooo strenuous either. Had a fish (hake) & chips take away from the cafe - a tad expensive @ PS15 (Restaurant PS21) but superbly cooked and worth every penny especially against the backdrop whilst seated at a picnic table overlooking the beach.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
