This picturesque cove is a haven for those seeking tranquility, with its turquoise waters, golden sand, and dramatic cliffs. The beach is surrounded by towering granite cliffs, with the iconic Chapel Rock standing sentinel at the eastern end. As the tide falls, the beach reveals hidden caves, rocky outcrops, and sparkling rock pools, inviting exploration. The air is filled with the sweet scent of gorse and the sound of seagulls wheeling overhead, creating a sense of serenity and connection to nature.
What an amazing place. Absolutely beautiful sandy beach. Tiny car park so best yo arrive early. Great little cafe, too. Recommend the hedgehog ice-cream. Lots of rock pools for kids to play in. Fantastic rocks and caves. Lovely colours in the sea. Also great walk along the coast path to Wheal Coates mine.
Great little beach with carpark, toilets and cafe. Life guards when the tide allows. Carpark at the beach is small but there is a field that allows parking further up the road during peak season. Good walks along the coast as well.
Remote and as we went in Late April quite quiet another month and you would not be able to park there. Roads very narrow very rocky beach to get to the sand but boy was it worth it. This is Poldark country and above you on the cliffs are the old mining towers, very haunting to look at
Super round trip walk through the coastal mining heritage and down the steep rocky path to Chapel Porth beach. The tide was on the way in so we had time to explore the caves and mess around in the many sea pools. Then it was time to hit the path and meander up through the lovely path of Chapel Coombe collecting blackberries to make jelly and cordial. Please note: There is a small car park at Chapel Porth and it gets very busy. Please do not park on the road as you will hinder emergency services arriving if necessary. There are facilities at this beach and the infamous hedgehog ice cream :-)
Like most of the Beaches in Cornwall, this one is stunning. Care should be taken that you don't get cut off on the sandy beach at HighTide. The mine working buildings are interesting, and more information would have made the visit better. The little coffee stall is very well run and worth a try. Parking is free for members of the National Trust, a single track road with passing places leads down to the beach.
