Preserved country house with maps, documents, photographs, picture and mementoes of the great man.
What a great day out. Fabulous gardens full of colour and a vast array of plants. The views are wonderful. The house feels like a warm well loved home. There are so many stories that we never knew about Churchill and his family. The volunteers in each room really new their stuff and passed on so much information both happy and sad. We had a lovely day. Don't forget to pack a picnic. Lots of beautiful places to sit and eat.
The beautiful former home of Winston Churchill and his family. Steeped in history, this is in truth a family home and a great insight into the everyday life of the Churchill's. The views from the house are stunning as are the gardens. A visit here would take around three hours but easily more. Please see pictures, they will definitely whet your appetite. If you're a national trust member, entry is free and you can park free too! Entry to the house is by time slots so it's best to go online and book. There are some nice areas within the grounds to sit and picnic or there is a tea room and a cafe onsite.
Extremely busy, was very surprised!! Just about got a space in the additional parking! Couldn't go in the house straight away, had a two hour wait. Had something to eat then walked around the very vast gardens. That two hours was just right for the visit to the house. Very informative
OK, I'm a big fan of Winston Churchill. But my wife and my mother aren't. All three of us had a magnificent time visiting his estate. It's a wonderful tribute to a great person, but it's also just a beautiful place to visit. We especially liked the fact that people were able to bring their dogs!
Lovely place to visit, especially if you are a National Trust member. There are enough places to park, the grounds are amazing and the house itself is very interesting to see. There is a nice cafe with lovely views of the weald. If it's dry then there is a nice walk in the woodlands, but be aware it is quite a steep walk. There are toilets before you enter the property (there is a cafe outside as well) and there are toilets next to the house (only 3 mixed rooms, so there might be a queue). I would definitely come back
Lovely family day out visiting Churchill's home. Cute trail map for kids to spot items throughout the house. Lovely little Wendy house in the garden that Churchill built for his daughter. Nice cottage cafe to get ice creams/ tea. Bigger restaurant cafe at the entrance by the car park. We took a picnic and ate it on the lawn
On-site services
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Getting tickets in advance recommended
Good for kids
