Half-timbered, 15th-century house with a gate tower, period artefacts and lavishly-designed gardens.
Wheelchair accessible on the ground floor - there's only a few rooms to see but the house is lovely. Extensive and lovely gardens that are mostly accessible (but I have an all terrain powerchair that copes well with gravel etc). The usual NT menu in the cafe. Ice cream in the stables. A mini exhibition about the restoration work in the house. We only visited the Catholic church and there was no ramp and it wasn't accessible.
House undergoing extensive roof repairs at the moment. On a good day you can go up the scaffolding to see the roof and enjoy the views. Only downstairs rooms open at present, you can see how they are storing pictures and furniture. Extensive gardens worth a visit.
Beautiful grounds and setting. Lake, River walks and 2 churches are amazing. Only got to see a small section of the house due to major renovations going on and lots of scaffolding up. They do however give visitors the chance to climb the scaffold (by stairs) to see the view from the top etc. We woukd definitely like to come back to see it all finished x
Great day out in glorious sunshine. Lots of activities for the children inside the main house & very knowledgeable staff all around. Beautiful gardens & lake outside making for a lovely walk around the grounds. The only slight negative as with all NT properties we've visited is the extortionate pricing & lack of choice in the cafe. Definitely consider bringing your own food & drink when visiting. The cafe staff are fantastic & I'm sure they don't personally set the prices.
Stunning walled gardens make this place "must see" visit if you are in the area. There is plenty to see and do and cafe facilities are first class. We have visited twice and it never disappoints.
Stunning place. They do have half of the house with scaffoldings so dont let this put.you off as you can wear a safety helmet and go up to experience. Plenty to go and see in the gardens and the flowers are all blooming absolutely stunning. Staff are so helpful and polite.
