A garden for all seasons, Dyffryn is undergoing an ambitious revival to return to its Edwardian splendour, with a fascinating botanical collection amongst the best in Wales. Meandering along paths, through intimate archways, you will discover exquisitely designed garden rooms, grand lawns and an impressive arboretum. The walled gardens yield a bounty of fresh produce and are home to an enormous glasshouse, housing a striking collection of rare cacti and orchids. Standing at the heart of the grounds is the Grade II* listed Dyffryn House, an eclectic mansion partially-furnished and flourishing after extensive conservation work. A place to take in the views and see a major restoration in action, Dyffryn truly is a garden to inspire and enthral
I loved my afternoon here. I don't think PS12 for an adult entry is too bad. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. You get given a guided map of where you can visit. There's a lovely gift shop there too which I bought a few things from and what I like is that even if you buy something there your money will go towards the national trust. All the gardens are well manicured and there's plenty of benches to sit down and take in the place. I will definitely visit again
DYFFRYN- NOW A SOLID 5 STAR If you check my reviews you will see they are all rated 5 star, but I don't think every garden I visit is 5 star. In truth I will not post a review unless I can post 5 stars. Remember even a 4 star rating will in most cases bring the garden average score down. So it was with Dyffryn which I visited 2 years ago, it was probably 3.5 to 4.0. star. A huge amount of work has gone into the garden and repairing the house , and this work has really lifted this garden. The highlights for me (ref the images) were the South front house and formal garden, the herbaceous border and the lavender court. As an aside when I was having a coffee a lady fell over on the concrete path and within less than 2 minutes 6 National Trust staff were with her and clearly they were very well first aid trained, they took exemplary care of her, very well done. So, a dramatically improved garden, bursting with colour, do visit and reward all the hard work.
Surprisingly nice day, considering how this year's been so far, so we took the 2.5 mile cross country walk from our campsite to the gardens (with two dogs in tow). As others have said, they are being restored post lockdown (a mammoth task) but my wife and I found the mix of the formal and wild to be absolutely lovely on a rare sunny day. It's extremely dog friendly and the cafe inside has lovely views and food. There's also one before you go in (and have to buy a ticket) if you're walking in the area.
Lovely day out... strolling through the gardens. Unfortunately we missed some of the flowering displays by about a week. They were now in the process of replacing them. Only one of the cafe was open due to the time of year. Very helpful National Trust lady gave us a map and information on the place. We also used the 2 for 1 deal on Garden's Magazine.
Fantastic gardens and cafe, great for a stroll and enjoy 1 of the 2 cafes. Well stocked shop with a wide selection of plants available.
Delightful spot to visit, for all the family (age 3-73!). Some stunningly beautiful flowers and plenty of space to run around in. Very relaxing and a couple of spots were real sun-traps. A star knocked off because the 'play-park' area needs further development. No doubt it's on the list.
