An arboretum & wild gardens in the grounds of a grand house, most of it destroyed by fire in 1894.
Car park PS5 all day or use your natural trust membership card . Didn't have to pay anything to get in at the moment. It has a lovely little cafe with outside seating lots of ice creams to choose from had a lovely sit outside under the big umbrellas with the dog as it was a beautiful sunny day. Lots of dog bowls around. A little second hand bookshop there too. We went and did the purple walk across the fields didn't take to long but could join them up with the pink n yellow routes to make it longer a bit of a wilderness had trimmed around the path ways and the were streams the doggies could go in if hot.
Sweet and peaceful experience. My BF and I enjoyed the Red and purple routes on a wonderful sunny summer day. Will be back at some point this Autumn
Fantastic woodland trails and perfect for dogs. We took a picnic and went along the purple trail to the top field. Beautiful grounds, highly recommend on a dry day!
Lovely walks around the grounds, national trust car park, not massive. Interesting things to see on your walk even has a walled garden, there is a coffee shop and toilets on site, we really enjoyed our walk with the dog.
A superb nature trail and country grounds. It is incredibly peaceful and tranquil, the woods are filled with birds and bugs and the pond had ducklings swimming and fishing. They have renovated the wall garden and you can see they are working towards a nice area there too. They have a cafe and are servong icecreams too.
Nice little place. Not overpriced like most national trust properties. The walls aren't huge and mostly electric buggy friendly. As mentioned in other reviews the purple route is limited due to the Ash tree issues. We visited during late winter when the snowdrops were flowering so this provided a nice backdrop. Plenty of things to keep old and young engaged. The staff in the cafe were very friendly and helpful. All in all a lovely place to visit.
