Gawthorpe Hall is a 17th-century country house in Lancashire, England, featuring a mix of architectural styles, including Jacobean, Gothic, and Victorian elements. The hall's exterior boasts a striking façade with tall chimneys, ornate stone carvings, and mullioned windows, while its interior showcases intricate plasterwork, ornate wood paneling, and grand fireplaces. The property is surrounded by 600 acres of parkland, woodland, and riverside walks, offering scenic views and opportunities for outdoor activities.
Absolutely gorgeous place, stunning grounds! The volunteers are amazing, the lady in the shop was so lovely and very insightful. She provided us with loads of information and fun facts, things to look our for on our way around the hall. The lady in the drawing room was so knowledgeable and passionate it was infectious. She answered any questions we had and told us some really fascinating history about the place! Would definitely recommend.
Gawthorpe Hall is well worth a visit. Easy accessible parking on site, and a beautiful hall and gardens to explore. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of everything to do with the hall and the people who lived there. The garden is also beautiful to experience. Some of the paintings are quite fascinating to look at also. Recommend a visit.
Beautiful building . Very well kept. The staff were amazing, they went out of their way to help my mother in law in a wheelchair to see as much of the building as she could. Lovely grounds and walks. Lack of tea room was disappointing, there was apparently a snack van, but this was closed by the time we had finished in the hall. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice little National Trust with some beautiful gardens, the house was well maintained with some drawing activities and games for kids. There is a natural playground. Only downside is there was no cafe and there seemed to be no bins anywhere.
Bit of a muddy car park. About PS7 to get in for non-members. Not an awful lot to see and not much of a formal garden. Took wet and drizzly to try walks around the rest of the grounds. No cafe/ tea room at present, just a 'van' outside. They need more funds to do this place up.
Surprising what places are in your local area and you have never found them or knew they were there. This one is only 20 minutes away from me and Turned out to be an excellent circular walk. Easy parking up at Gawthorpe Hall and follow the lane out the other side and do a loop around the Calder River.
