Country house from 1701 with restored period details and an orchard and set in gardens and parkland.
A beautiful National Trust property not far from Jct 5 of the M5 motorway. The property is stunning with good information provided in each room and knowledgeable guides on-hand to provide more detail. Plenty of grounds with well thought through walks. The gardens are well maintained with seating to sit and enjoy the surroundings. There are two restaurants/cafes onsite, serving a good selection of lunch time meals. Both hot and cold vegan options are available. There is ample outside areas to sit and enjoy a picnic and to walk dogs. Areas for outside games is also provided.
Lovely house with beautiful gardens. Gardeners and volunteers are doing a fantastic job. Nice walk around the grounds. Good cafe and no for the car park. Would recommend.
I really like their garden. The geometric design with neatly trimmed hedges forming a series of square and rectangular sections. The conical-shaped shrubs are extremely cute. The interior of the house may not feature particularly extraordinary items on display, but the experience is enriched by the staff, who are dressed in period costumes from the middle of 1700s (or possibly earlier). Their detailed explanations and immersive storytelling transport visitors back in time, providing a vivid sense of what life was like during that era.
What a beautiful location! The gardens are lovely and even on a cloudy day lots to see and enjoy. The lady in the house...sorry can't remember her name was very knowledgeable and made our visit most memorable. Lunch in the restaurant area was wonderful not too overpriced. Staff very polite and efficient. Thank you.
Very well maintained property, especially the paintings in the hallway. Lovely grounds to walk round on a sunny day. The cafe is modern, one of the best ones at a national trust property, good food choice and cakes.
We visited specifically to see the garden and blossom. The borders were beautifully maintained and there were plenty of flowers in the park including bluebells and cowslips. Parts of the grounds were shut due to being waterlogged. Had a drink and cake in the new cafe. Very friendly staff.
