Stunning place , incredible interest and one of a kind. Definitely a place to visit, the staff is very friendly. You can see how people used to live there and the houses are very well renovated. I found it super interesting that there is a bat colony that still uses the caves. On the top there is a cafe and it is definitely one of the best places to have a cuppa. Around the trust is a nice forest where you can have a walk.
Kinver Edge, located just west of Kinver on the border between Worcestershire and Staffordshire, is a captivating National Trust site. Stunning scenery, well-signposted walks, and great choice of difficulty levels. We did the purple trail and also saw Nanny Rock. The rock houses, authentically restored, offer a unique glimpse into the past. Volunteers, with in-depth knowledge of the site and surroundings, enhance the experience. The views are superb, and the added walk around the heath and to the iron age fort adds to the charm . It's definitely worth a visit. Look out for the bull.
Lovely little cottages to visit. Has a cafe and second hand book shed at the top. Several trails to follow around the area to the other cave cottages. The view from hill fort is nice. The only thing was we missed one of the caves on the purple trail as they're not signposted.
This was a really quirky interesting place. The weather was amazing. We had such a great day. Facilities was excellent too. The gardens and the surroundings are spectacular. The views are amazing from the top. Great woodland walks too with family games to play on the lawned areas. Excellent day out.
Absolutely fascinating!!! Just visit!!! To think that people were living in these rock houses as recently as 1963 is just amazing. The guides are great - friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable. David and Bev, and names I've forgotten, educated and entertained us with anecdotes. The tea-room was serving super scones (cheese & ale!) and sandwiches, amongst other goodies. And there are spectacular views to admire while munching! You can easily walk up to the iron-age fort and the heathland where there is a variety of marked walks to choose from. There is plenty of parking close by. The lay-by parking is large enough to allow side-by-side rather than nose-to-tail parking. The Rock Houses are great value for PS7.50/adult.
