A wonderful place to discover spectacular views of the Peak District, ancient woods, parkland and heather moorland. If you have time, discover the old quarry workings at Bole Hill. Places to visit at Longshaw and Eastern Moors: Longshaw Cafe open Monday - Sunday 10am - 5pm. Toilets located in cafe hub area and temporary ones in main Woodcroft car park. It's a nice place for family, friends or couples. Car park is available and its PS5 for four hours, although you can park your car on the road if parking is available, its free. Walking trail is good for all ages, it varies from small, medium to large route. The view and scenery is amazing, just enjoy the peace and organic life.
Get there early for parking. Paths and walks nearer the visitor centre can be busy but venture further away and it's quiet. There was still space to sit in the cafe though even with the car park full. So the favourite National Trust treats - jacket potatoes, chilli, pasties and cake.
Great area, well maintained car park. There are disabled spaces but then also "extra wide spaces" that can be used by blue badge holders OR parent and toddler. Nice cafe with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of picnic benches for packed lunches. No play park but still great for kids as the rhododendron trunks/roots are a great climbing frame! The toilets were clean and operational. They have disabled and baby change facilities too.
This beautiful Trust site has something for everyone. An absolutely gorgeous site with trails long and short - stay around the cafe or venture into the Peaks for a more adventurous day. The lake also has a huge colony of mandarin ducks which was an amazing treat to end the day! Love it here and will definitely bring loved ones!
Longshaw... beautiful walks. Lots of well directed walks of varying miles, mostly paths and slabs through woods and along babbling streams with visitors centre & cafe at start by car park.
First visit here today. Stunning scenery. Great separate trails for people of different abilities. Lovely place. Will definitely be back
