This 17th-century Market Hall is a rare surviving example of a traditional English market hall. With its striking timber-framed design and ornate clock tower, it stands proudly in the heart of the town. The hall's original purpose was to provide a central location for the town's market traders, and it still hosts regular markets and events today. Visitors can explore the hall's historic interior, which features a grand open space with a high ceiling and exposed beams. The hall is also home to a small museum area, which showcases the town's history and the story of the Market Hall itself.
This is the famed market hall in Chipping Campden built in 1627 and still going strong to this day. There is a vibrant crafts market on Wednesdays and Fridays supporting artisans around the world.
A lovely historic building, inside the floor is uneven with the cobbled floor being worn over the centuries. It was lovely to look up and see the rafters and plaques on the wall giving information.
A national trust property and still in use today. It was great to see that villagers still use this market hall as a market. When we visited there was a couple of stalls open and we stopped for a little look around before we set off on our walk to Broadway.
The 400-year old market hall located on the High Street of the beautiful town of Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire.
This is nice to walk past but note there is only one small sign to read so would only see if in the vicinity (vs. making a special trip to see it).
What a beautiful place to visit! Adorable buildings. Plenty of historically interesting buildings and bits of information about the place itself. A beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon so the main street was somewhat crammed with cars making taking a decent photograph difficult. But all in all such a lovely place to visit. We parked near a little park and walked into the village. I certainly recommend a visit to Chipping Camden.
