Stately Georgian townhouse museum, with exhibits of curiosities & a lush 2-acre garden.
Beautiful gardens and a very relaxing place to visit. Lots of bits for kids to try during the holidays. The cafe is small but has plenty to choose from and a lovely courtyard to sit in. I personally loved the used book shop too!
We haven't seen the house inside because we didn't have cash with us but we could entrance the garden for free. It's beautiful and romantic. Well maintained. At the back of the garden there is a cafe where you have a snack and real coffee, they accept cards. Great peaceful atmosphere. This place is a real treasure. Pity that the rest of the town doesn't look like that anymore.
What a bizarre experience. No scanning of anything, just a lady at the door doing a tally chart of how you're entering. Cash only if you want to buy any of the guidebooks etc. Have to pay for the house but the gardens are free. They definitely have this the wrong way around as the house is really very disappointing but the gardens are lovely!!
What a beautiful old house this is, all the guides were really friendly and knowledgeable too. Shame the weather was a bit wet today as on a sunny day the garden would be beautiful. It's national trust property but I believe the garden and cafe are free to enter for all, you'd just need to pay to enter the house if you're a non member
excellent garden to visit and enjoy coffee and a cake in the coffee shop
Beautiful house and gardens. Well worth visiting
On-site services
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Getting tickets in advance recommended
Good for kids
