Large, diverse collection of objects displayed in a 16th-century manor house with a lush garden.
What an amazing house and gardens visit. The collection is varied to say the least and contains some incredible items, from samurai armour to model village buildings. The exhibits are well displayed and there really are a dizzying amount. Add to this the glorious gardens and we would have gladly paid the entrance fee but as National Trust members we once again enjoyed the value this gives with free entrance for members.
An interesting place with lots of interesting pieces and oddities within the Manor from Charles Wades collection, we have been several times and there is always something new to look at that you may not have spotted before. When it is busy the house is on timed tickets so you may need to wait before you can enter the house. This is not an issue as they have a good cafe and the gardens themselves are nice to explore. There is a 500m walk between the Entrance / Shop and the House door but if you have issues with mobility there is a shuttle service for you. Perfect for a wet or overcast day when you can't make the most of the surrounding Cotswolds or on a nicer day in conjunction with one of the walks in the local area.
A lovely place to visit with lots of collected items by Wade displayed in the house, lovely gardens, and a nice cafe with a good choice of food and drink. I had a lovely afternoon there with my Mother amd recommended a visit. Prices are reasonable with free entry if you are a National Trust member.
What a lovely place. Charles Wade definitely had a hoarders gene. What a collection! Every room was stuffed with treasures that he collected from far and wide. It was so interesting to see all the amazing things he collected. Lovely gardens too. A lovely miniature fishing village scene. It is a bit of a walk from the visitor centre to the manor which is up a bit of a hill. There is a buggy service if you need it. We didn't visit the cafe so can't comment on that. All the volunteers and staff we encountered were lovely and friendly.
Beautiful place , and it's definitely worth a visit. Plan in advance backseat the manor is open only till certain time , we arrived last minute and almost didn't manage to get in. But luckily we did because is amazing. Stuff super friendly and all the guides inside the manor absolutely passionate .
My favourite National Trust garden, famed for its garden design of individual rooms. In beautiful Chipping Camden, great tea shop with cakes and cream teas . Good shop and garden plant centre. Parking limited,so good to book a slot, gets busy, but the garden is big enough not to feel it . Definitely need to visit if you haven't done this yet !
