Arts and Craft Movement house with a formal garden, woodland estate, daily events and a gift shop.
Absolutely lovely place! Worthy a visit if you have time. We spend a lovely sunny afternoon there with 2 toddlers who enjoyed the varieties of flowers. The building for viewing allowed us to go into history. This was again a very nice experience with a little game that allowed our toddlers to enjoy the house tour without getting bored. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you helping us to have a lovely experience :)
Fantastic moated property. Inside were great examples of arts and crafts in the building. There is a large play area next to the car park. Over the next two weeks during weekdays they were hosting a crazy golf course. There was a lovely garden with flowers and vegetables. The staff in the house were very knowledgeable and friendly. In the cafe there was the usual NT selection of items on sale. The staff in the cafe were efficient and it was clean. There is free water and glasses available. There was live music on the croquet lawn. There is a beautiful walk around the local area. Some of the forest is currently closed off to manage ash die back.
A good place to visit and the house is particularly interesting! Left as it was in the 1920's. Listened to a talk by a volunteer all about the house, she was very knowledgeable! The gardens are lovely as is the boardwalk, but some of this is currently closed due to Ash dieback. Good coffee at the coffee shop too!
Had a wonderful day out here today. It was spring, and the garden looked beautiful. We started our visit with morning tea. There was a delicious range of cakes and drinks in the cafe. The house is so homely with so many interesting bits. It's got a feel of the arts and crafts movement. The Easter egg trail is brilliant and takes you around the whole garden. There are a few hills, so it might be hard for the less mobile
Beautiful Trust with a plentiful amount of space for walking. Can be chilly in the late winter months but spring brings out all the flowers. Toilets are clean with a nice shop and delightful cafe. The talks are very informative and tell you about the buildings and the links to arts and crafts.
Really lovely Arts and Crafts house set in beautiful countryside. Nice tea room too. Would definitely recommend.
