Historic 16th-century manor house with period furnishings, a formal Tudor garden & a restaurant.
This smaller National Trust property has 8 rooms within the house to see, small but well done Elizabeth knot gardens, a used bookstore, shop, and lovely cafe. The house has interesting objects, with about half the rooms in older period and half from 1950s refurbishment, spread across two floors. There are informative signs in each room though they are quite small. It took us about 20 minutes to wander through the open rooms. Gardens are nice, with 3-4 smaller sections to look at. There are a couple of benches but not a significant amount of seating. Cafe has a moderate selection of food and hot beverages, mostly pasties, potatoes, soup, and sandwiches for lunchtime food - including a few vegetarian options. Seating is mostly indoors though there are a few picnic tables around the back. Gift shop is nice, and has what you'd expect for National trust. Only assistance dogs are permitted inside. Car park is quite large, and surprisingly busy when we were there on a weekday.
Beautiful National trust property. Not very large but lovely for an afternoon out. All staff super friendly and full of great historic information. Beautiful rooms and well kept. Lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Well presented gift shop and second hand book store. Set in well kept clean gardens. As normal excellent parking.
Our first ever visit to Trerice was back in the early 1970s and the only real difference then that we miss now was a pair of Peacocks that could be heard throughout the house and grounds, it it still beautiful and well worth a visit. Sadly the same nowadays cannot be said about the local town of Newquay!! It's a shame The National Trust couldn't manage towns to! They would have made a far far better job I'm sure.....
Very beautiful compact country house. Pleasant people running it. Free parking and a reasonable entry price. (Members free). Tea room and toilets. Will visit again with more time.
Beautiful Tudor style Manor house and gardens. There are lots of gorgeous features throughout the house and on the outside. Great gardens, including the mazes. Smaller gardens with steps great for those less mobile. Clean toilet. Secondhand book shop. Gift shop with plants for sale. Massive barn cafe with plenty of inside and outside seating plus plenty of picnic spots. Delicious food and drinks. Try the orange blossom cake it's devine.
We walked from Hendra Holiday Park, it took about 40 mins. It takes a bit to get your head around the set up of the house in the style and era it was built. Not your standard living space downstairs and sleeping upstairs. There is a cafe with seating in the court yard and out the back on grass. There is a grass maze to the side of the cafe, the haybarn has tables with games on them and you can dress in clothes of the era. It is a nice place to visit for a few hours. You can even have your wedding there.
