Country estate with parkland and walled gardens, a family-friendly farm and a grand mansion.
A classic National Trust property with plenty to see and do, lots of walking routes and nice cafes too (although the selection of food decreased quite quickly towards the end of the day). The farm was excellent as well with lots to learn and a wide variety of animals to see. Even though we visited on a bank holiday, because the property is so large it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy either, with plenty of car parking available. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely house and parkland. I have a gripe that the parterre has been grassed over, I can appreciate the amount of work involved and a need to achieve sustainability, but I'm 50/50 as to whether it is in fact just a drift to less investment with a feeling that monetisation is a leader with this property. Well worth a visit tho and the volunteers were as superb and knowledgeable as ever !!
Hadn't been to Wimpole since December. The walled garden has been improved. New paths in the middle section. Lots more to explore and lots of colour. Sunflowers lovely. Main cafe seems quicker service than we remembered. Farm good, as usual.
We've been to Wimpole before, but many years ago. After spending a week in Suffolk, we decided to visit on our way home and had a lovely day. Lovely facilities, cafe, shop, toilets etc. We enjoyed the house, gardens, farm and grounds. The only thing that would've been better would have been if the upstairs of the property had been open. Maybe another time.
This a truly beautiful place! It was purchased by Rudyard Kipling's daughter using the inheritance she received from his estate, and she paid PS68,000 for it. The estate is the same size as 1,700 football pitches. The house is amazing and the walled garden is simply stunning. She my photos.
A wonderful day out for our young family. The grounds are utterly stunning with beautiful walks through fields of sheep and lambs. Also a field with cows who were very interested and friendly. The farm is fantastic, there were pigs, sheep, horses, goats, ponies, cows, chickens, donkeys and rabbits. The facilities were brilliant for hand washing and we were able to get up close with the animals and learn about them. Stanley the horse was particularly sweet! The restaurant was lovely and served delicious food, in clean and bright surroundings. One improvement would be the signage in the car park which was lacking a little. As National Trust members, we felt really lucky to have access to this wonderful site and would highly recommend it for a day out.
