Woolbeding Gardens is a beautiful and tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park in West Sussex, England. This 26-acre garden features a stunning collection of plants, trees, and flowers, with a variety of themed areas, including a rose garden, a herb garden, and a sensory garden. Visitors can explore the gardens along meandering paths, taking in the vibrant colors and intoxicating scents of the blooms. The gardens also boast a number of tranquil water features, including a large pond and a fountain, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.
lovely gardens and destination. unsoiilt surroundings and landscapes. beautiful walks to be had around the area and the river rother. fantastic wildlife if your lucky including deers, hares, and badgers. also nearby is the nice town of midhurst. great for a day trip or even better a mini break.
A real hidden gem. One of the most beautiful gardens in England, yet few know of it. Needs a bit of advanced planning as booking is essential on the NT site and numbers are limited
Lovely: the garden rooms, gravel garden and fabulous hothouse that can be opened up like a Pandora's box are all splendid. But watch out, it's only open 2 days a week, and catching the bus from Midhurst proved stressful. No signs or flags indicating the pick-up point ( routinely removed at 3pm apparently) in the carpark at The Grange in Midhurst. Gardeners were all happy to stop and chat, but a few (?volunteers) were clearly hot, and grumpy. Maybe arrive earlier than 2.50 at the Midhurst rendezvous point as I did... As I left on the last 4.20 bus, everyone was hustling to finish. Not the most welcoming experience.
Lovely gardens to visit. Very peaceful. Interesting variety of plants.
Thoroughly enjoyed the gardens, so many different picnic areas with great views. Loved the grounds with formal and wilding areas, with a huge variety of plants and habitats. There is a nice cafe with seating area, and a informative talk at sets times, would recommend this, as guide was excellent.
Probably the best NT gardens I have ever visited, I wish I culd give it more than five stars. The house and grounds are beautiful, the planting imaginative and everything that is man-made is done with flair and imagination. It is only open a few days a week, a few months in the year and as a result it is spotless. If you go on a hot day the roof of the glasshouse will be opened, a spectacle that last four and a half minutes! Make sure you walk across the field to the "ruined abbey" and other follies. Strangely, there is no parking on site or nearby even though there is plenty of space to build a car park. You can either get a shuttle bus from Midhurst (free with entry) or hike to it. There are some lovely walks and parking about a mile away off the A272
