Part of the Caledonian Canal, this is Scotland's longest flight of locks. The site and its towpaths are always accessible on foot and by bicycle. Cars, buses and other vehicles should use the nearby car park - signposted from the A830. Boats may use the locks during canal operating hours.
Nice place to visit, take a walk, and enjoy the scenery and yacht moving through the multiple lock gates. 2 young girls were paddle boarding the Caledonian canal section in just swimwear. It looked cold, but they were enjoying themselves. Mad.
Nice place to visit, great piece of engineering. We were lucky to see boats going from the bottom. Cafe and gift shops on site as you walk up.
It's a lovely place to visit and walk around. It would be nice to have some information boards around telling you the history of this place. We met a lovely man who lived there and told us about it. He said it celebrated it 200th birthday last year.
Amazing feat of engineering and how they built these locks, but there isn't anything around to give you the history of it or show you how they did it. Great to see it working but disappointing not really anything other than a lovely walk to do here.
Another fantastic feat of engineering from Mr. Telford. A unique set of 8 locks on the Caledonian canal in Fort William. Nice place for a picnic. It has carparking and a couple of shops. Wouldn't fancy going through the locks on a boat as it would take quite some time.
Very cool to see the boats going up and being able to see how it works as they are going up the river.
