Welcome to the UK's most northerly public miniature railway! Situated in picturesque Whin Park in Inverness, our locomotives take passengers on an exciting journey that's over half a mile long and is bound to delight adults and children alike. The railway was established in 1983 and since April 2019 has been owned and operated by Highland Hospice. All surplus funds support the delivery of hospice services across the Highlands. Re-opening Easter 2024
Visited as we came past Inverness on the way to Orkney and my son loves 5" and 7.25" railways. This is the most Northern little railway, but there's much more to it than that. The riverside setting next to a play park is great, and nearby Ness Islands make for a wondrous walk between giant trees. The railway itself re-purposes a former Ness Island bridge in a wonderful little loop with much to see next to the track and a little shop to quieten tummies. Lovely volunteer staff, ample parking (though we walked back by the river on a summer evening, even better). I'd be back every weekend if we lived closer by. Wonderful place
Took my toddler on, staff are very friendly and enjoy a chat. Were very patient with my son. The railway is fantastic and fun. Best of all it helps a charity too.
A fantastic little gem hidden away, staff were great and really friendly - even let me nephew sit in the driver's seat for a picture!
Lovely wee trip around the park, full of interesting features as you ride round. Kids loved it.
I had so much fun!! Thanks for the ride
A great train ride within Whin Park. Well worth the PS2.50 ticket. The track layout is a short single track section through the station with two folded balloon loops. On section of a balloon loop crosses over the other loop on a long bridge.
On-site services
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
