This 13-hectare woodland in Dorset, England, features a mix of native and non-native tree species, including oak, beech, and sweet chestnut. The woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells in the spring, and the site is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, bats, and insects. A network of walking trails, including the Hardy Way, allows visitors to explore the woodland and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere. The woodland is also dotted with sculptures and other art installations, adding an extra layer of interest to the natural beauty of the site.
Great place to take our kids. There's plenty of pathways to explore and the river and bridge are very pretty. My ecologist wife appreciated some of the more unusual plant life and I spotted a peregrine falcon and what was maybe a redwing. There are further fields between two rivers with are also very pleasant to walk along
Great hidden gem for the kids.Small community woodland with plenty of walks on a level so also good for grandparents. Great all year around. In the summer when it's dry the river level drops enough for the kids to paddle with great clear water. Great place for a picnic and you can easily spend a whole day here. There are a few dens created by the kids so plenty for those budding soldiers or explorers to burn off that energy. No bonfires or BBQs allowed due to fire risk. Please respect the site and don't chop down any plants or trees, this is entirely run by volunteers. Parking limited to about 5 spaces on the road outside Top tip 1 - Park in the park and ride during the day but remember this does close at the end of the day. Alternatively you can park in the access road to the park and ride or in Bishops Hull.Access from Bishops Hull is down Neverclay lane through the public footpath after the care home that gives access over a bridge over the river to the site. Top Tip 2 - If it's rained recently bring wellies as it's on a flood plain so it gets muddy very quickly.
Lovely place to go for a walk and can get some nice photos
Love this place with the kids & the dogs could spend hours here
One of most beautiful and peaceful places for a walk.
I went for a walk here today with my little dog,it was really beautiful and very pretty. Parking can be tricky but if you drive a little further up the lane there is another layby that is less busy. Its a peaceful place by the River and plenty of benches to sit and watch the birds....My dog loved it
