Picturesque, well-preserved ruins of a medieval church & monastery founded in circa 1239.
A tucked away awesome piece of history. A fantastic ruin with historical boards to tell you about its history. It is surrounded by a large green and was relatively quiet, when I visited It has a small car park which is free. It is a nice place to visi, however it doesn't take much time to wander around, so it's not an all day location.
Fantastic example of an Abbey and a bonus with free entry, has a small car park on site that is free but a lovely wooded walk just 500m down the road on the waterfront.
Lovely location. Parking for a few cars. We spend 30-60min exploring here you don't need any longer than this unless you plan on having a picnic as there is lots of lovely space to sit on a sunny day. Be aware there is no surrounding infrastructure as you might expect, no toilets or food on site.
Came here a few weeks ago. Had a few hours before boarding the cruise so took a bus to explore outside of Southampton. Dropped by this quiet little cafe after walking around the coast.
I found this a very interesting old place. It's very atmospheric and very pleasant to walk around.
Fantastic place to visit and at no cost. Small car park. And there's the Royal Victoria country park just a short drive along the same road.
