A magnificent example of 19th-century engineering, this aqueduct is a curved structure that carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the Semington Brook, allowing canal boats to cross the brook while maintaining a consistent water level. The aqueduct's 21 semicircular arches, each with a span of 15 meters, support a towpath and the canal itself, which is elevated 18 meters above the brook.
