Newark Trent Weir is undeniably one of the most peaceful and stunning locations I have visited here in Newark. The waterfalls were absolutely breathtaking, leaving my partner and me in awe. The free parking area was also excellent, providing convenience and easy access. The atmosphere was serene and therapeutic, especially with the sound of the waterfall in the background. Additionally, we noticed that the area seemed to be very dog-friendly, and there were plenty of fantastic dining options nearby. Overall, our trip to Newark Trent Weir was definitely well worth it.
Despite the showers, it was a lovely day out at Newark Waterfall watching the process of the Boats going into the lock. A very short walk was a large playing field ideal for picnic
A great walk upstream along the river Trent, from the castle, crossing the footbridge to Newark Locks and on down the navigation, leads to the quaint old narrow stone footbridge at the point where the river diverges from the canalised section, to rejoin opposite the Corn Exchange and the castle. Swans meandering in and out of the arches add to the charm of the spot. The pathway continues along the riverbank and soon leads to a gate into open countryside.
Easy to get, nice place for a walk or a picnic. Parking just few minutes away.
It's one among plenty of Newark's places worth visiting. Sometimes I pass Trent Weir on my jogging activities.
So peaceful, especially on a warm sunny day to just lay and listen to the falls.
