This 140-acre country park is situated in a former quarry site and features a variety of landscapes, including woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats. The park offers several walking trails, including the 1.5-mile Newbold Quarry Trail, which takes visitors through the quarry's history and industrial heritage. The trails provide opportunities to spot local wildlife, such as birds, butterflies, and insects. The park also features a visitor center, picnic areas, and a children's play area, making it a popular destination for families and nature lovers.
We visited just after a bad spell of rain so some of the paths weren't accessible, but still a really nice peaceful walk :)
Quiet with some hills walking around is serenity and great overlooking points to picnic or blaze up
Tucked away in Newbold estate, panoramic views from highest hill, is lovely down by the water, flat level perimeter can be done in 15mins, & given all the rain, not too muddy. A cold January dusk, so a quick walk today. Can access Oxford canal & get to Eliots Field Retail, which has nearest facilities: food & toilets.
Pleasant circular walk and free parking are the positives. But not a single bench! Not even old ones, broken ones, or ones that didn't take our fancy! So we took our sandwiches for a walk and went back to the car. Middle of the summer holidays and we didn't see single other soul - I wonder if the lack of amenities has hampered its popularity.
Nice find for a little walk but take good boots as it's very muddy! It's about a mile walk around and there's some steep steps. Carpark is free which is a bonus.
Nice natural place, you can walking around the lake.
