Newby Hall is a fantastic place the whole family can enjoy. From the elegant Wren designed Georgian House with breathtaking Adam interiors to the beautiful gardens, a day at Newby is a treat for the senses. Make memories with the family with a thoughtfully designed Adventure Playground which is delightfully (and proudly!) 'old-fashioned' complete with Boat Swings, Sandpit, Pedalo Boats, Pirate Fort and Miniature train! From June, explore the Contemporary Sculpture throughout the Woodland Walk and even have a go yourself with Matombo, our visiting Zimbabwean Sculpture Exhibition. There is a spellbinding Dollshouse Exhibition, A Teddy Bear House, Restaurant, Plant Nursery and Shop......theres' so much to see and do at Newby!
New by Hall is always worth a visit when down in this area of Yorkshire. We've only ever visited the gardens, however they are well worth a visit on their own. They are beautiful places to walk with lots of interesting planting and great variety of spaces. The best time we've been was around late June when the mix of flowers is pretty spectacular, but even in mid July (our last visit) the planting was extremely impressive. A good cafe is present in the grounds and there is also the miniature railway, boat trips and the teddy bear exhibit too. A good idea to buy tickets in advance from the website
Great cafe food lots to see and do for families. Doll house museum brill and teddy bear exhibition wonderful. House tour very interesting as same family lived here for centuries with original furniture by very wealthy family. Gardens very well maintained. Bonus, all free to members of Historic Houses
Fun for families! Beautiful gardens, cafe, ice cream kiosk, excellent playground for kids, pedal boats (up to 65kg), doll exhibition, teddy bear exhibition, and outdoor sculpture exhibition. Narrow boat trip 5PS pp and mini steam train ride 3PS pp. Cafe offers good quality hot and cold food, tasty coffee, and cold drinks. Entry fee PS22 pp on the door (family discount available). Online tickets PS19.80 ... kids tickets 4-15yo PS15, 2-3yo PS5, under 2 free. Spacious parking and picnic area outside the gardens. Dogs are not allowed in the gardens and woodlands.
Beautiful gardens, great play area,it also has a model train to ride on,plus a boating lake. The cafe/restaurant is a lovely spot. Didn't go in the house on our visit
Friendly and smiling staff in all areas, beautifully maintained grounds for a pleasant walk around. A spacious adventure play area for children to explore, including a couple of things to do on the water. The dolls house and teddy bear exhibitions are definitely worth seeking out too, you could spend either a quick 10 mins or an hour in each depending on your interest. Train ride was fun, was quiet at the end of the day on our visit, when earlier rides had been full. We had brought a picnic for our visit but the menu for the restaurant looked surprisingly reasonably priced which is not what you expect from such an attraction so well done for that. We did have an ice cream which was nice.
A most fabulous gardens & facilities to keep kids & all family entertained, especially the water play areas. Works out best to take your own picnic. Well worth a visit
