The impressive fortifications, which have protected the Fort from attack through two World Wars, have also kept its rich heritage virtually untouched. Journey deep into the network of tunnels, venture onto the ramparts and gun emplacements and unlock the secret stories of the people who lived and worked at Newhaven Fort.
Amazing place , car park nearby , toilet and coffee shop on site as well as gift shop. Stuff super friendly and funny . Must admit I'm always bored on the little history wideos the one they prepare was absolutely amazing!!! Super interesting not boring at all and done in very funny way , first time in my life I was laughing and come out with a smile on my face , don't skip these one !!! Fort very nice my husband love it .
I saw on Google maps that there is a fort here. I didn't expect much, only ruins I thought honestly....I was very wrong. This is a very well kept and unique fort which has many little exhibitions and activity rooms for groups as well. I stepped into the history and learnt a lot here. It was interactive, not just reading boring stuffs. Also I didn't expect to walk around that much, there are many rooms open to the public, tiny corridors, steep creepy hallways as well. Plus the viewing points on the top of it. Easily you can spend hours here and the children will enjoy it too. There is a playground for under 12. And a 1940's decorated tea room to buy drinks, light bites. Wonderful time (But slightly depressing as well to see war time rooms, can't delete history) Can highly recommend.
Excellent place to visit very interesting and historic the Newhaven Fort is built into the cliff overlooking the Newhaven harbour with lots of gun in placemats facing out to sea. Check the pictures I've added.
Went with my 11 year old son, he found the different rooms and displays very interesting. Even better when he got to chat with a lovely man who was very knowledgeable about the weapons and my son got a hands on experience of the weapons and helmets. Nice clean toilets. The cafe looked good too. Some of the rooms were not open due to maintenance and other places out of bounds. Great views from the top though.
Came here a couple years ago, alot of very interesting exhibits, great for anyone interested in 19-20th century warfare.
Enjoy the visit here . Spent lots of time reading the various information and exhibits.. excellent displays and good cinema features too. Certainly worth a visit. Good cafe , and lots of free parking.
