Newhaven Museum is one of Newhaven's little gems. Situated in a convenient location at the northern end of Paradise Park in Avis Road with plenty of free parking. it is filled with a collection of fascinating memorabilia of times gone by. Run by Newhaven Historical Society you can find out about the town's interesting history and how it grew from an old fishing village into a thriving port.
I went in here because I saw a massive u-boat cannon outside the front of it and it instantly caught my attention because cannons are just seriously cool However, when I went inside it was just fascinating. So many interesting and unique little artefacts that are just amazing when you look at them. The man behind the counter who gave us a tour of the place was extremely knowledgeable and we really appreciated the tour around the place. So many things we just wouldn't have known about if we hadn't gone here.
Such a lovely small museum, full of local history and lots of donated items and vintage photos, my daughter loved their open day where she got to dress up in old clothing and take part in a trail around the museum to solve the questions, worth a visit if you love local history

Wonderful museum, everything very well presented. Not a huge place in terms of area, but so many artefacts, exhibits, and photos to take in. Will certainly be making return visits to discover more about the fascinating history of Newhaven. Well worth visiting.
Throughly enjoyed losing 6 hours of my time in this place. I could happily spend 6 hours more. Everything is well laid out, the people working there are extremely friendly and helpful. The artifacts and stories they have to share about historic newhaven are insightful and interesting. The best bit was the computer and searching back on the history on the road in which I now live. I didnt grow up in Newhaven so I found it all really interesting how the wars and its maritime history have shaped this town over time.
