It shares its western boundary with the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This landscape is diverse, full of contrasts and rich in wildlife. It is a landscape protected for you. Explore it, enjoy it and help conserve it.
Fountains Abbey is literally breathtaking. I've been many times, each time I'm amazed at the scale and beauty of the place. One of the best National Trust destinations.
Fantastic place of outstanding natural beauty. Like Utah on your doorstep
Had an overall great experience hiking, but, paths in areas have clearly been blocked off by farmers, these aren't been monitored at any all!!! Paths alongside becks flooded with over 1ft of water and eroded in parts, despite the becks having low water levels, alternative higher routes clearly marked on ordnance survey maps blocked off by landowners and farmers, Having to climb over a barbed wire topped drystone wall with our dog because of flooded waterlogged paths is an absolute joke!!!
Lovely family walk along the river in glorious sunshine for a change.
It's a beautiful place to visit with lovely walks, the castle ruins are fascinating and lovely with a great coffee shop and picnic areas. The weather was lovely as well.
Absolutely loved this walk, all the way around Thruscross reservoir, beautiful scenery, the landscape changes as you walk around from woodland to very natural forest and open rocky moorland, definitely worth a visit if you're up for pprox 10k hike
