A 37-hectare nature reserve featuring a variety of habitats including wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, providing a haven for wildlife such as birds, insects, and plants, with walking trails, observation hides, and educational facilities for visitors to explore and learn about the natural environment.
A beautiful bird sanctuary hidden away from the main road. A steady flat easy walk around the site means that varied views are on offer and the chance to see some wonderful wildlife... a highlight were the bright blue dragonflies
Great place to walk and see lots of wildlife and different birds. Had stumbled across it on holiday and didn't expect it to be so popular. Lots of people parked up with cameras and binoculars.
Absolutely lovely place to visit. Lots of free parking. Compost toilets are a bit left to be desired would rather have a clean toilet block but at least they have them. The walks around the Wetlands are beautiful and accessible to many. Hides are good and many bird species to observe as well as Dragonfly and Damsel fly. Lots of seats and areas to picnic if wanted. There is a take away Bus that serves many hot and cold snacks drinks and us there most days.
Not a long walk but lots of wildlife to see, had a wheelchair with us wouldn't advise it's wheelchair friendly as rather uneven track around the pond. There are toilets and some benches to eat lunch.
North cave wetlands is an excellent nature reserve. There is plenty of free car parking. One of the hides is right next to the road with a ramp and easy access for disabled people. The hides are very comfortable with opening windows and excellent views over the wetlands. There are footpaths round the edge of the ponds, leading to other hides. There are also public toilets at the entrance. There is an excellent large covered seating area with picnic tables by the entrance, opposite the Burger Van with very good views over the wetlands. There are charts and information boards showing the sightings of various breeds of birds. The whole area is very well maintained and is very popular.
Superb Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve. Brilliant site with really nice hides (openable windows and carpeted seating). Feeders were filled up when we went today (Sunday) and saw reed bunting and brambling as a direct result. If you visit, please support YWT by donating or becoming a member. Highly recommended.
