This charming heritage railway station, nestled in the picturesque Dorset countryside, offers a nostalgic step back in time. The station's vintage charm is palpable, with its restored buildings, traditional signage, and rustic platforms. Visitors can soak up the atmosphere, imagining themselves in a bygone era, as they explore the station's quaint surroundings.
Lovely, peaceful setting. Interesting memorabilia about railways. Delightful cafe with railway carriage to sit and enjoy light lunch or cake and coffee. Fairly wheelchair friendly but not to all exhibits and buildings but still very enjoyable.
So pleased that we visited here and could see the remarkable work that has been achieved by the North Dorset Railway members and the Project 62 team. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit to see results of so much work by the volunteers and enthusiasts. Shop and cafe on site, do buy the Station Guide - such a lot of information.
A lovely restful place, made for just sitting back and enjoying the views. A huge amount of volunteer work has gone into restoring this Victorian railway station, which now is conveniently placed on a lengthy trail way, ideal for cyclists, walkers and horse riders. The station has a cafe too - again perfectly situated for all.
Fabulous views from this station. Lovely cafe to order food and then go eat on the buffet carriage. Restoration being done at present there so it's so interesting to speak to the volunteers helping achieve this. A must if in the area.
Had a lovely coffee stop at Shillingstone station cafe after walking from Sturminster Newton along the trail way (approx 5k), nice friendly staff, coffee and cake sat in an old carriage, small museum and lots of history there, lovely place to visit
Lovely little set up. A lot to see and do in a little site, and it's all very well kept. All the staff and volunteers were very friendly. Cafe was a lovely little stop on our way past. The spitfire flying overhead was a nice touch, but I don't think Shillingstone can take the credit for that one. Parking can be a touch tight when it's busy.
