We visited North Haynes Farm in July, and what a wonderful experience it was.|Everyone who works there (Roger, Cheryl, Emily & Jen) are delightful and make you feel so welcome. |My daughter (2yo) had the best time feeding the animals twice a day. Also the daily donkey ride was a highlight and she was very sad to leave.|I visited the treatment room and had a reflexology session and an Indian head massage and it was fabulous!|The ready made meals that are available to buy are also a god send when you've been out all day and don't want to cook... they're very yummy too (get the chocolate brownies!)
Wow, wow, wow!! Our first time at North Hayne Farm! We stayed in Samuel whiskers 2 adults and our four children and what an amazing trip we had so much so we booked an additional night as we didn't want to leave and booked for next year too! ||Cheryl, Rodger, Emily and Jen were amazing - nothing was ever a problem and they went above and beyond expectations with our children and us too! The farm experience is incredible, from 2 feeds a day, lamb feeding, egg collecting, donkey rides , sheep shearing which was incredible too see, chick handling and so much more! The children soon found their new routine living on the farm! Emily was a firm favourite with our youngest Olivia! ||We had beautiful days out around the area from beach days, village trips all of which was in our welcome pack and leaflets in the games room! ||Most places always say they are child friendly and at times are not where as here everything is for the children, the garden areas have play areas, ks1 and ks2 activity packs, forest school sessions. Everyone is so friendly!! ||After busy days it was nice to relax in the hot tub which is just perfect and looked after incredibly well! Me and my husband spent our evenings winding down after a busy day whilst the children played or slept which was so lovely when you have done so much with the children!!||Our expectations have been exceeded and we can not wait to return! I could write so much more! This was one of the best holidays we have ever had as a family and definitely worth more than 5 stars!! ||Thankyou for a beautiful stay north Hayne farm
North Hayne Farm is a very special place. A collection of self catering cottages, it is run by a family with an eye for creating a lovely experience for other families on holiday. We are a family of four with two boys, (5 and 7) and stayed in Jemima Puddleduck for a week. What's so amazing about this place is that the children are free to roam; down to see the farm animals, to the games room, play football on the large lawns, make friends with other children and are not just tolerated, they are actively welcomed. You don't feel that you have to apologise for your children at every turn.||The day starts and ends with animal feeding supervised by Farmer Roger, Farmer Emily or Farmer Jen ( a parent needs to be present also although tbh by day three the kids have got it nailed so you can sit on the bench and watch). This includes feeding the many guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, Truffle the pig, sheep, ducks and alpacas and collecting the eggs. Guests are divided into two groups on arrival so on one day you will feed the animals at 9am and 18:15 and have an early evening activity (walking the lambs, holding the chicks or the guinea pigs) then the next day you'll do the 9:15 and 18:00 feed and do donkey rides or leading after the morning feed.||I have to emphasise that even though there are other families staying there aren't many of them so the site is never crowded or busy, the animal feeding never feels tacky or just a token activity and the evenings are quiet and peaceful. ||I would thoroughly recommend the Forest Rangers (Forest School) session on a Wednesday morning (?PS5 per child) and the Farmer Hands session on a Monday morning (PS20 per child) where they are able to help out on the farm for a morning. Mine loved both. ||Jemima Puddleduck was very clean and tidy with a good size fridge freezer, loads of cutlery and plates including lots of plastic cups/plates/cutlery for little ones. There's a cafetiere, salt and pepper, cooking oil and a couple of tea bags/small amount of ground coffee. We ordered four beach towels (extra cost) which was so handy for the hot tub and for the beach, saved us packing them. I would take extra bin bags for storing recycling (bins are in the car park), laundry tabs and an extra tea towel. We had a Tesco shop delivered which included extra loo roll and kitchen roll. There are two washing machines to use free of charge, two washing lines with pegs and a tumble dryer (with an honesty box). You'll need some 20 p's to play pool in the games room. When you arrive and leave you can drive down to the cottages to load/unload and then the cars are left in the main car park, a small distance from the main buildings. ||The hot tub was fantastic with a glass of champagne watching the stars while the kids slept, and we both had a Swedish Massage with Emily which was sooo good! We also all did the Bat Walk with Roger and saw loads of bats feeding at dusk which was fascinating. ||Things to do (there are loads, we didn't manage half of it):|Rock and Rapid Adventures (climbing wall and outdoor climbing)|South Molton Market (local products and produce). There's also a lovely deli in South Molton with amazing cheese and Bray Valley Wines (just outside South Molton).|Lea Beach (main car park currently closed so parking is tricky)|Lynmouth and Lynton Cliff Railway (giant scone in the cafe at the top), payment by card only. ||Would love to have explored Lynton and Lynmouth more, there were some lovely looking shops and places to eat but my oldest impaled himself on a railing after not listening to his mother and we ended up in Barnstaple hospital where he had to have surgery. When we finally got back to Hayne Farm Roger and Cheryl had made him a bravery certificate and gave him some extra one handed farm jobs to do to make up for the sessions he had missed. And that's what I mean about what really makes North Hayne Farm - it's the people who run it. ||We booked again for next year before we left!
Our third visit to North Hayne Farm, staying in the spacious, clean and comfortable Jeremy Fisher cottage. A wonderful and relaxed environment to spend quality family time together. There are numerous options for food and activities, the daily animal feeds are certainly a highlight for the children. The games room and wonderful grounds kept everyone entertained and the hot tub helped the adults to relax after little people had gone to bed exhausted and happy. We'll be back to make more memories.
It probably says it all when we arrived at the farm this time, my 6 year said "we are home". We are repeat guests for a reason - Cheryl and her team are amazing. The animals are gorgeous - all the family have favourites! We love interacting with them - feeding times, donkey rides, cuddles etc The cottages are lovely and well equipped for families (stair gates, cots, high chairs etc). The hot tub is one of our favourite things. My eldest loves the trails around the farm and all the children love the play room and outdoor play areas. Then there's the extra activities during school holidays - this visit we made Easter decorations and had an Easter Egg hunt with Big Yellow!! We enjoy exploring the area too - visiting Hartland Abbey, Valley of the Rocks, the market in South Molton, Ifracombe boat ride etc. The children are already counting down to our 2025 visit!
We've just returned from our second holiday at North Hayne Farm cottages, and have already booked for our return next year. We love this place. Roger, Cheryl and the whole team are fantastic and make you feel very welcome. Our two preschool boys *love* the farm - and our youngest has mainly wanted to read farmyard stories since we've returned home, asking for baa baas The cottages are cosy and well thought out for young children - the hot tubs are a real plus for mum and dad too (as are Emily's massages). We're moving into the dreaded school holiday holidays as of next year and have been pleasantly pleased with the very fair peak time pricing at North Hayne who also put on additional activities during the busy times. In summary, take the family to North Hayne. You won't regret it!
