Bird of prey centre that focuses on education and conservation of birds of prey. We operate Experience Days all throughout the year in which you can handle and fly our birds of prey, meet and feed our animals and learn a bit more about what we do here. We also open our doors to our visitors centre on selected dates throughout the year. Ran as a non for profit organisation, we rely on our hard working volunteers and fund raising efforts to enable us to care for these majestic birds of prey as well as treat and rehabilitate wild birds of prey and rescue and rehome unwanted and neglected animals from birds, to exotic mammals and reptiles. We are passionate about educating people about birds of prey and the challenges they face in the wild.
Brilliant little place! Lots of different birds of prey and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Got to hold and touch a few different animals and insects too. Nice size for anyone with special needs/ASD as it's not too overwhelming.
It is a really good place to visit to see and observe some fantastic birds of prey. Watching them flying around the arena, they are truly majestic in flight. Well worth the visit, also the nearby cafe offered great choices and nice coffee.
It was great to visit the place in one of their open days. The staff was very friendly and the birds and all the animals were very attractive. It was lovely to see some of the birds flying in their show. Perfect for a family day out!
My wife and I have visited here before and its great we would highly recommend coming here for the Open Days or an event / experience which varies in time e.g 20 minutes 45 minutes etc where you have the opportunity to interact with the animals and ask the keeper questions about them, we had the Skunk event on this day where we held 8 week old Skunk kittens and took loads of photos it was great and educational and very smelly the kittens kept on spraying lol its best to book in advance for these smaller events which are advertised on the web site or on Face book. There is a great cafe on site and a small garden centre which we recommend both worth a visit, there is Blue badge parking near the entrance and its a large car park, toilets are available on site near the cafe.
Open Day was amazing! We went as four adults and had a wonderful experience. The centre itself isn't too large but there are lots of birds to see! Really reasonable entry fee especially considering all of the amazing things we saw. We recommend looking at their facebook to see timings and arrive when it opens. We got to hold owls, it was great. A young guy called Brandon knew answers to all my questions. There's a cafe next door and you're given a wristband to come and go all day. I recommend wearing boots as there's some uneven floor and a coat for warmth as it's outdoors :) a lovely centre and we will be back for sure.
Owl experience (booked via Groupon) for two 9 year olds - brilliant hands on experience, fantastic value for money. Booked this experience for my daughter's birthday for her and her friend. More than 2 hours worth of owl handling with 12 other people, The girls favourites were the Eurasian Eagle Owl, Little Owl and the Barn Owl. All got a good hold of each of the birds and got to fly one of 2 owls. I also paid PS10 each for my sister and 6 year old son to come in as spectators which was a much better experience than I thought it would be. As spectators we weren't able to hold the birds but could take photos and learnt all kinds of interesting information from the falconer who hosted the group, about all the different breeds. Would recommend wellies/boots as was a bit muddy and lots of snacks for children spectators (there are picnic benches you can sit at and watch from). There is also a cafe next door (didn't go in as shut at 4.30pm and our experience went on until 4.15pm). Can't wait to go back and visit the whole centre.
