We are a Miniature Railway within the grounds of Harlow Garden Centre. We are a non profit company and we run a 7 1/4 gauge line round the gardens. It's run mostly weekend and running days all listed on our Facebook Page and website.
We initially went into the garden centre thinking that the railway was located somewhere inside, we had completely missed any signs that suggested it was the other end of the car park (and there was a bit of work going on installing EV charging points, so there may well have been signs that we missed!) We eventually managed to locate the ticket office and picked up some tickets for me and the kids. While you wait they have a small playground area for the kids to play on, as well as some picnic benches if required. On our visit they had a couple of trains running - the tracks were a fair length, and there is a station that you can get off at. This station is where the engine is removed and turned around for going back to the beginning. It was a nice journey, although I guess the grounds could have been a bit more 'developed' although there is a fair size so can appreciate the amount of work that would probably take! A nice miniature railway - and we were glad we managed to catch it open for a ride!
If your children like trains then this is the place to be. No entry fee, beautiful large garden which the miniature steam trains take you round. It also has a picnic area with swings therefore well worth a visit.
Always 5 stars amazing people, kids will love it
Just did the Santa grotto with my two little, train-loving boys, it was an absolute delight! Run by a wonderful, super friendly bunch of volunteers, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The Santa was amazing and really took time chatting with my boys and gave them lovely gifts. Very magical and fun, can't wait to go back!
I have taken my 2 year old nephew a few times, it is a lovely little train ride, very sweet. We went on a "Winter Lights Special" and "Teddy Bears Picnic" days which were delightful. There is not a huge amount to look at during the ride, unless you go on a "specials" day. However for PS2 a ticket you can't complain and the little ones love it that's the main thing, well for me anyway. Apparently they used to put stuff out for the ride, but it was getting stolen so understand it's no longer feasible. Such a shame a few spoil it for the many. It is a non-profit run by volunteers who are all friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
It's a delightful place for both kids and adults alike where the love for trains comes alive. The miniature train ride is a joy for children, and even adults can't help but smile as they embark on this whimsical journey through the picturesque countryside. The volunteers who run the railway are friendly and dedicated, adding to the charm of the experience. It's a fantastic outing for families and train enthusiasts, and I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this miniature railway for a day of pure, old-fashioned fun.
