Historic buses, cars, lorries, motorbikes, pedal bikes and more on show in the old St Helens Corporation bus and tram depot. Displays of transport memorabilia and other items. Gift shop and snack bar, level access throughout. Free heritage bus rides on opening days (subject to availability).
A great experience for kids. Plenty to see and do and lots of opportunities to get on different buses. You can also go on a ride on one of the old buses which run on the hour and half an hour. We visited this weekend when the Classic Car show was on which was brilliant, variety of old cars and a police car which the kids can sit in. Entrance fee for adults and kids is very fair.
What a lovely place to visit. We could get on buses and went for a ride on one. There is a room with a big model train working exhibition. Well worth the trip. Husband loved the bikes, grandson loved the trains and we all loved exploring. The voluteers do a great job too.Highly recommend a visit.
Found this by accident but pleased we did.The museum is a former depot so its just as important as the collection within its walls.Surprisingly large collection of mainly local made buses which you can go on some of them.Although not from the area it was definitely a trip down memory lane.Easily spend a good couple of hours in there.Well worth a visit for any transport buff
First time visiting this museum and it was excellent. There's a variety of transport there mainly buses. Also there is a eating area and toilets. Outside is a good size car park ( upto 50 cars ) and it's free at the weekends.
Went to the classic car show here was great, but there is so much more, vintage buses and trams, model railways and lots of history of St Helens. Also got a brew. Its a big open space so it was a bit chilly, wrap up or pick the weather. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited on a special event day, the museum is staffed by volunteers in the old bus garage near the town centre. It's got a real charm about it, lots of cars, buses, bikes and a milk float. Most exhibits have a well written and interesting bit of information about their history which gives them more life. Recommended, but only open Sundays. Good for kids, both young and old. Come on an event day and get a free bus ride too.
