This 16th-century castle ruin stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking the River Deveron, its crumbling walls and towers a testament to its rich history. The castle's architecture is a mix of medieval and Renaissance styles, with features such as rounded towers, battlements, and a grand entrance gateway. Despite its state of disrepair, the castle still exudes an air of grandeur and mystery, its rugged beauty enhanced by the surrounding woodland and rolling hills.
Very nice spot. To visit with family, friends, or a loved one. There is a lot to see ,entertaining for kids and elderly people friendly. I will recommend this to anyone who hasn't been there. The people who have been, I'm pretty sure they will visit it again
Great spot for walks. There are level and easy walks around the Lough Erne peninsular and a shorter woodland river walk, good paths and suitable for push chairs and wheelchair users. Plenty of benches for resting and picnic/BBQ areas. Jetty also provides easy fishing access. The castle ruin is accessible via a short but steep-ish path from the carpark. Plenty of parking and bins provided.
Come here frequently when we are at the caravan to walk the dog. Been doing that for about the last probably thirty five years.
