Old Down Country Park has so much to offer for all the family, come and experience it all in our open air setting full of nature. Situated on the outskirts of Bristol, we are set in the stunning countryside with 66 acres of open space featuring beautiful gardens, woodlands, play areas and an animal park. Open Seven days a week we offer something for everyone from our animal encounter sessions held daily at 11am and 2pm where you can meet the animals and their keepers, to Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, or Sunday Lunch, or why not enjoy a stay in our luxury glamping tents.
I went there with a few friends and colleagues to attend a wedding reception and I found it a lovely venue with beautiful outdoor spaces as well as characterful indoors. Had a bit of a walk around which is really beautiful, lovely landscape and even view of the bridge. Also, some very cute animals around, all in all a very nice place.
Definitely a bit overpriced, but otherwise quite a nice trip out. There are some animals to see, a lovely park or two for kids to run around and even a few animals to touch and interact with. However at PS45 for a family pass it's too expensive for what it is sadly- in my opinion (although I appreciate the costs of running such a place have probably increased a lot). For this price some of the attractions should be spruced up (that poor, poor mud kitchen) and the place given a bit of a renovation, maybe more animals to play with (the weasels were cute but that was the only animal 'out'). More play equipment etc. Oh and having the soap dispensers near the animals actually have soap in would be nice. Not a single one had soap in during our visit - not great for hand hygiene with little ones.
It's a really nice place! Animals were well kept and cared for, the play areas for children are beautiful, lovely petting area! The downside to it all was it felt as I was walking around in a farm and felt a little lost, left to it which is good to a certain extent but I didn't know what I was able/unable to feed and where I was allowed to go into as a lot of the places looked a bit empty to me and didn't have signs indicating I was able to go in or walk around and if they did it wasn't clear. It is also quite overpriced I'd say. Me and my son will be coming back though!
Had quite a nice walk around but can't shake the feeling it was slightly overpriced. Nice little farm area with the animals to feed, the larger play area was pretty good and kept the kids entertained for a while after our picnic. The outdoor games in the woodland area were a bit disappointing, the large connect 4 was broken and coconut shy was missing coconuts and something to throw! Welly toss was quite fun! The maze isn't much of a maze. Not sure if it's new and still growing? We did have a good few hours, but feel there are cheaper and better options around for similar days out we would choose instead of returning.
Nice open space with good activities for families catering to all ages with the various animals you can see/ feed and a large adventure playground. It is not the cheapest venue but good for a treat. Helps if the weather is good as the majority of the activities are outside although there are some areas with cover available.
Nice place to take young children and let them explore the various playgrounds and look at the animals. The walled garden was closed due to a private event and we missed the maze which seems to be outside.
