This 15th-century tower house in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, features a unique blend of medieval and Renaissance architectural styles, with a rectangular tower, turrets, and a grand hall with a large stone fireplace, surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodland walks.
Well worth a visit. Plenty of interesting exhibits. The gardens with the fountain very beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommended.
Weddings, a conference centre used for Heriot-Watt University Graduation situated in the Old Town area of Galashiels in the Scottish Borders with over 400 years of history next to Galashiels bowling club with a beautiful 18:00 pavilion once a rose garden gifted to the people of Galashiels. Well worth a visit.
Very pleasant gentlemen upon arriving, the hall with the amazing beamed ceiling was the highlight for us, along with a beautiful art exhibition. Not a large amount to see as some rooms were closed off bit was worth it for the garden and the ceiling alone.
Absolutely gorgeous gardens and a beautiful historic house and all for free! Although a donation is always appreciated.
What a gem. A surprise around each corner.
We went to see the Heriot Watt textile exhibition, which was fantastic - great to see young talent in this venue. The touring exhibition about the geologer was also really good - beautiful detailed drawings. The permanent exhibits including that beautiful painted ceiling were also well done with items from contemporary craftspeople included. The local history archive had put together a really entertaining themed exhibition. Having quality local artists and makers exhibiting and selling there was brilliant too - I loved the knitted works. This venue is a bit off the beaten track in Gala but it's really worth going to see. I'm looking forward to revisting as they seem to be doing a lot of new things recently.
