We happened to visit on a day when there was an archaeological dig. The volunteers were enthusiastic and informative. Exciting to be able to see what they're working on. Interesting site, but far more so when you can witness things being uncovered!
Norman motte and Bailey, very little left of the castle. Great views over Oswestry, from the top.
This is thje Castle of all CASTLES !! Stunning architecture, INCREDIBLE vies over the town. Nice couple of pubs with in 4 minutes walk to refresh after the climb to the rop and back! Well worth a visit!!
Free, good view, but not much castle remains
Well maintained site with good signage and paid parking. It's is very small so you can see the whole thing in about 10 min. The pathways are steep with steps so not suitable for people with significant mobility issues.
Really not much leftfrom the old castle. Just 3 pieces of castle walls. But worth going there for a panoramic view of town from the hill top.
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
