Oxford Botanic Garden is the oldest in the UK and with nearly 5,000 different types of plant, the Garden is a year-round oasis of biodiversity, right in the heart of the city.
What a gem tucked away in the centre of Oxford. The greenhouses are beautifully laid out bursting with species of plants and flowers. The external rose garden would be lovely in blossom. The main lawns are laid out in sections- plenty of information boards. It was a glorious day - best to take your own picnic as only a small facility to order drinks and snacks from. Would be lovely if it had its own restaurant for a complete day out! We paid on the day and had little wait when entering but left around 2pm and it was very busy with a queue to enter. We visited as a family of four and my daughter and little brother had a lovely time too! Well worth it for all ages. Lovely staff especially the one in the greenhouse who spoke to us about the dragon fruit tree - my daughter was inquisitive about. The grounds were well kept and flowers/plants in healthy conditions. Incredible experience. Can't wait to see more in the summer months.
I can honestly say that the Oxford Botanic Garden is the most beautiful botanic garden I've visited so far! Wonderful plants to explore and learn about. Not too big so great to do in a day! I would recommend it highly, even if you're not into plants the beauty of the place can draw anyone in!
I visited with my grandma and aunt and I had a wonderful time! They had a wheelchair my grandmother could borrow, as she has trouble walking. Everything was so beautiful and I loved seeing all the different sections. I loved the section with the natural biodiverse flowers.
Enjoyed the visit as part of a group of 9. We bought tickets in advance. We walked from the station. Gardens lovely to see but I can not help thinking they could do more in this world of selfies to publicize themselves either a lovely background of plants or the punting with a logo or something h striking. As the path follows the river you get an excellent view of the punting boats. Great variety of plants and good labeling. Enjoyable and if you like plants and a wander worth a visit.
One of the best aspects of the Oxford Botanic Garden is its peaceful atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, whether you're looking to relax with a book, enjoy a leisurely stroll, or simply soak in the beauty of nature.
I have never been to a botanical garden quite like this one. It is impeccably maintained and features many diverse sections. I was delighted that students were allowed free entry. I have fond memories of studying here for exams.
