Painshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours across Europe, he created a sequence of breathtaking and surprising vistas. The landscapes form living works of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect. Once visited by the 2nd and 3rd US Presidents, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, Painshill is also fortunate to have His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales as a Royal Patron of the Trust as well as receiving The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. Today, England's most elegant 18th century landscape garden, Painshill welcomes around 100,000 visitors to come and experience the pleasure gardens.
Went to this place today, was suggested by an Instagram reel. Wow I'm so glad I went, fantastic day out, so clean and peaceful. Really nice and well kept grounds. Best park I have ever been to. The weather was fantastic which made it even better. A great way to escape the city life for a day. The entry fee was worth it in my opinion.
Came on my own with children, 12 and 8. We all really enjoyed our day. We did the historical walk, sadly missed the hermit house. But we enjoyed all we did do. Very relaxing and easy day.
What a wonderful park. Truly a gem. We had a very relaxing day here. There is plenty to do, an extensive area for walking, some historical points of interest to visit. Have a picnic surrounded by a luxurious landscape. The park is in very good condition of maintenance and there are accessible routes, so everyone can enjoy it. It's really worth the entrance fee. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic time at Painshill. The staff at the entrance are so friendly, we were a little bit late for our timed entry but that was no problem. The grounds are beautiful, especially the vineyard and the crystal grotto. The food at Mr Hamilton's Tea Room was lovely and the staff were fantastic.
Stunning park and grounds, well worth the entrance fee. Stunning well kept place to stroll, beautiful bridges, amazing grotto, scenic and well placed rest areas all around with benches. Ideal for picnics. Dog friendly too which is a real bonus. Excellent day out. Highly recommend.
