A tranquil oasis in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, Pan Mill Meadows is a picturesque nature reserve boasting an array of wildlife and vibrant flora. The meadows, once a working mill, now offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Winding pathways guide visitors through the reserve, where they can spot an abundance of bird species, including kingfishers, herons, and otters. The gentle rustle of reeds and soft chirping of birds create a soothing atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and connection with nature.
One of most regular walks for when I want to see a bit of nature whilst in town. It is surprising teeming with wildlife and I've seen quite a wide array of birds and insects along here. As well as smaller birds and duck you also often see birds of prey fly over head or perched in the trees. For the main walk it is paved to makes for an accessible walk as well as a nice cycle through. If you want a longer walk you can also continue through along side path. It is also a nice place to come and sit. The only thing that does ruin it along here is amounts of rubbish that are often left by people.
a really nice, peaceful and beautiful walk.
An oasis of green space, a green lung into the town centre with a cycle way/pedestrian walkway suitable for wheelchairs and the less mobile, also a woodland walk where you can spot lots of wildlife and plants under a canopy of mature trees. Sadly one or two spoil it with their rubbish from time to time but overall its well cared for.
Lovely little oasis for nature. Often have a quick walk here and always see something interesting (butterflies, dragonflies, ducklings and moorhens). Grateful to have this place so close to town.
Walking along the meadows was nice and peaceful, so too were the wooded areas. I saw some butterflies but didnt see any kingfishers or water rats which was a shame but was not surprised as both are very rare anyway, like most animals on this planet. I think the medina river should be kept cleaner and free of peoples rubbish and i still saw lots of litter in places which absolutely gets my goat, some people just do not have any respect for their surroundings or the environment. However i am glad that there is a nature reserve in newport for all to enjoy, because church litten is NOT a park! Just hope that these meadows, woods and river banks are properly maintained and looked after for future generations. A lovely aternoon walk, i recommend it.
Just love walking around this quite haven. Very peaceful.
