Stumbled upon this place while exploring the area on a cheeky getaway with my wife. She took a photo of the view from the top of the beacon. The highest point at forest of Dean it said. Would be perfect for a picnic on a warm day.
Beautiful views well maintained, shame the same cannot be said about the public footpaths routes. Not 300m away, marked on an OS Map but are overgrown, partially blocked to stop digs using the says and in effective are unusable. It's disappointing for such a beautiful part of the Forest.
Great views and several interesting monuments. Highest point of the Forest of Dean. You can drive right to the top of the beacon so no walking required.
What a lovely traditional pub, the staff are lovely. Food reasonably priced, portioned well very tasty. Dog friendly.
Lovely view, great little sledging spot too
Wonderful views. Local Historical Information. Beacon
