Overall dissapointed with this park. |We arrived on Friday 23rd August and got the keys to our caravan. We asked re the pool whilst at reception as we hadn't been able to book online. We were told that we no longer had to book we could just turn up. |We had booked for 8 people in our caravan and only 2 rooms were made up, the 2nd twin room beds had no sheets, neither was there any bedding for the sofa bed. The sofa had loads of crumbs and food between the sofa cushions and down the side of the sofa. |We went to reception and explained, we had no apology for this we were just told housekeeping would be sent around. |When we attended for swimming we had to wait a very long time to be able to get in. It was explained to us that there was a booking system that people could book 6 weeks in advance and then everyone that turns up has to wait. This system just seemed a bit ridiculous in all honesty. We had only booked the holiday 3 weeks before and who knows what pool slot they want 6 weeks in advance. |Overall the park was nice, the swimming pools once we were able to use them were good and the entertainment good. |The final bit I'm most disappointed about was that I forgot our coats and left them in the caravan cupboard (my fault entirely) but I called up as soon as I realised (found it very difficult to get through...ended up getting through to security) was told that someone would be in touch which they haven't been. I spoke to someone via the online chat and they directed me to an email address. I have sent 3 emails and nobody has replied.
It's not a bad park. It's in a good location and the grounds are lovely. ||Check in was easy and we didn't need to queue very long. This was done better than other parks. We had to wait 45 minutes after check in time as our van hadn't been cleaned. We didn't mind and the cleaner came and told us what was going on. She did a great job and the van was clean when we eventually got in. ||The indoor swimming pool feels cold when you first get in but it does get more comfortable after a few minutes. The pool is pleasant and the lifeguards were friendly, if a little distracted. The changing rooms and toilet facilities are the worst we've ever encountered. They were filthy every time we visited. I'm not sure they were cleaned at all during our stay - two other families pointed out plasters and a used nappy that had been there the day before.||The outdoor pool and splash area was really lovely. Cold, but the children didn't seem to mind. ||We heard some families complaining that the pools weren't open long enough throughout the day. The indoor pool closed at around 4 most days, and both pools closed at various points throughout the day. This didn't bother us but I think it's worth considering if you're going to spend your whole holiday at the park. ||The ice cream hut, fish and chip shop, and chicken truck were all very nice. Don't rely on the opening times for these or the on site shop that are advertised around the park - they do not stick to them. Go an hour before the advertised closing time/half an hour after the advertised opening time to avoid disappointment. ||The waffles and pancakes from the ice cream hut are really nice, but be prepared to wait. The staff try their best to get them done as quickly as possible but it's not set up to cater for more than one pancake or waffle at a time. ||Our caravan had some issues and Chris from maintenance came to sort what he could. The maintenance/cleaning team were probably the friendliest staff on the whole park.||The bit that let it down the most was the van itself. We opted not to go for the oldest/cheapest van as we wanted to make sure we would have a nice place to stay. The website said it was new. It definitely wasn't. It was smelly, stained carpets, marked curtains, stained seats and laminate peeling away from the table. Had we booked one of the cheaper vans, we wouldn't have been so shocked. ||The WiFi that is advertised doesn't work. Neither does the TV signal. When we reported this to reception, they said there's nothing they can do and it's the location of the park. It wasn't the end of the world for us but I think it's good to know if you are thinking of booking. ||If you're going to spend your whole holiday on the park, we would recommend taking bikes/scooters for the kids, games/playing cards, balls etc. to fill the gaps between swimming and other activities. There wasn't enough to do on the park to keep us there, so we ended up using it was somewhere to sleep mostly. But there was plenty of things to do nearby. We recommend:||The Blue Pool - absolutely beautiful. Family of four can spend all day here for the price of two large sides from the park chicken shack!||Weymouth - funfair, amusement arcades, Punch and Judy, lovely beach. ||Tank Museum - Full day out. Much more than just tanks. ||Jurassic Coast - more beaches, hamlets, and coves than you can imagine for fossil collecting.
Always been a bit wary of sites like this, and especially after reading previous reviews. Why did I worry! The park is amazing, the staff are an absolute credit to them, endless patience with the kids and always polite and helpful. The Lodge we stayed in was wonderful. Cleanliness on arrival left a little to be desired but this took nothing away from the overall experience. Facilities and activities for the kids were brilliant as well.
Had an excellent holiday to Sandford holiday park last week. There was so much for both our girls to do with all the different activities there. They had an amazing time and we would definitely return there. The only thing that let it down a little was the toilet block on the touring part where we stayed. I understand that it is a busy time of year but that is one place that should be kept cleaned at all times and we struggled a bit to get on to our pitch as it was a bit tight. However that was the only issues we had and the positives of the holiday outdid the negatives and it didn't spoil our break. There are a few people I would like to personally thank for your help and support during our break and making that bit extra special for our little girls. Their names are Jay, Vicky, Jacob George, Jamie W, Dec, Derryn, Charliene, Fern, Amelia and Sophie for all the care they gave to both our girls during the activities and any issues we had. Thank you so much and to everyone else working on the park for being so friendly. We will definitely be coming back
This is a site which is set up for children and families, but even as a group of 4 adults we still had a lovely time at Sandford holiday park. The site was wooded and allowed you to be at one with nature which created a very quiet atmosphere at our caravan that was only a row away from the main road. We visited during the summer holidays so naturally the site was busy and most activities looked very full, but that didn't stop us from being able to enjoy the arcades, entertainment or restaurants. This is all without mentioning how well placed the holiday park is, with plenty of incredible days out right on the doorstep (once you get out of the traffic on the main road!). We did have a few issues like having to make our own beds on arrival and our original key not working, but aside from that we had a delightful time and will be recommending Sandford holiday park to family members. Thank you for a great trip
3rd visit here but will NOT be returning. Rude staff on reception, very unhelpful. |Paid a lot of money for my daughter's caravan and she had no internet, no working tv, which wasn't good with kids. Doors missing off kitchen cupboards, burn marks all over work tops, holes in the rotting decking, melted.patches on the decking, stained furniture and carpets. We had to clean the caravan before she could use stuff in it. When we complained they said NO to moving her even though there was lots of empty caravans. Stairs up to the caravan broken , it was awful and all they offered was a PS25 voucher that would have to be spent on their site. |Little shop very expensive, food was coming out cold in the restaurant and prices were extortionate . Touring area wasn't bad, but toilets broken or filthy, showers were usable but unclean. One shower block closed on such a busy time of year. All activities were not in good condition, broken and bits missing. The whole site is run 90% by teenagers too busy on their phones. Overall not a great experience especially for my daughter's first visit with kids. |Very disappointed and will be taking this further.
