A picturesque coastal town in South Wales, boasting a stunning Victorian pier, a beautiful beach, and a charming promenade lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. The seafront offers breathtaking views of the Bristol Channel, and visitors can enjoy water sports, fishing, and boat trips. The town's rich history is evident in its elegant architecture, historic buildings, and museums, while its vibrant cultural scene features a range of festivals and events throughout the year.
An incredible seafront looking over the Severn Estuary with great walking trails and several points of interest. The beach is a pebble beach. Would recommend parking at Cliff parade free car park and taking a 10 minute walk down to the pier.
Penarth beach is a rocky beach so not the place for a paddle or swim. However, if you like fossils then go when the sea is out and walk along the beach to the left of the pier to the cliff bit. We found quite a few. However, if you do this make sure you check tide times as we had to scramble to get back as the tide had come in whilst we were looking.
Such a stunning and peaceful area considering you are in a major city. It is not a sandy beach, it is a pebble beach. There are small sand patches when the tide is out - but not enough for a sandy beach experience. Worth a walk along the seafront when in this area. There are also a few places you can get food and drinks looking out over the sea. Parking is limited, but there are a few spaces on the seafront itself.
Had a lovely time at the Seafront, visited the Victorian Pier and stopped in the sweet shop where I bought some lovely doughnuts and was served by a very nice lady who was so helpful. Can also recommend Beachcliff fish and chip shop, customer service was excellent and the food was gorgeous, they also serves vegan options, we sat on the benches opposite to eat our food with an ocean view. Then had a tasty latte at the refreshments shop nearby, where the lady serving was so friendly. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Lovely promenade and pier at Penarth. The beach is very pebbly. There is a lovely gift shop called Shore on the front selling coastal themed goods plus an RNLI shop. Up the hill you will find a cafe selling meals snacks and ice cream, a car park and toilets and a children's park. Penarth sea front and beach is exceptionally clean.
Lovely quiet Stony beach. Visiting family in the local area and did our usual walk by the beach. We didn't go as far as the dinosaur footprints today but have done before and would recommend it for any children who are dino enthusiasts, they will love it.
